Patient Questions

A single dental implant can cost up to £3,500 in the UK, with most patients paying around £2,500 for the implant alone. Single dental implants at Complete Smiles start from £2,300, which is an all-inclusive price that covers the branded implant, the connector piece and the dental crown.
While technically single dental implants are available on the NHS, most patients do not qualify due to strict, “exceptional case” eligibility requirements, which include accidents, chemotherapy treatment, and undeveloped adult teeth. In the rare instance that you do qualify, you'd pay a Band 3 charge of £326.70. For everyone else, it's a private treatment. We offer payment plans to spread the cost if budget is a concern.
A single implant typically takes two to five appointments, which can vary case by case. You will need at least two appointments for the consultation and the surgical procedure. A follow-up appointment is also a must to ensure there are no post-surgical problems. Our dentists recommend multiple aftercare appointments to monitor recovery progress.
You can expect to recover from a single implant surgery within one to two weeks. Most of our patients get back to work and regular activities within two to three days. Full recovery from implant surgery also involves your jawbone fusing with the implant (osteointegration), which can take up to 6 months on average.
You can eat normally once you have recovered from the implant surgery. As a single dental implant functions essentially as a natural tooth, you will be able to eat as usual and with the comfort of having all teeth. After your surgery, you will need to be on soft foods for about a week. Then you can gradually shift to your regular diet with your dentist's advice.
A good quality single dental implant can last 20 years or more with proper brushing habits. The crown sitting on top wears out more and typically needs replacement in 10 to 15 years
